There is nothing quite like a delicious thick cup of hot chocolate on a chilly, rainy day! San Churros has a “Chilli Hot Chocolate” which I thought I’d try re-create at home.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
2 cups milk
2 cinnamon sticks
75g dark chocolate, chopped finely
4 tbs ground cinnamon
2 tbs thickened cream
35g dark chocolate, grated
whipped cream, to serve (optional)
Method
Step 1. Add the milk and cinnamon sticks to a large sauce pan. Bring to a simmer on medium-low and let it simmer for 1 minute
Step 2. Remove the cinnamon sticks. Add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until well combined.
Step 3. Sprinkle in the ground cinnamon and add the thickened cream. Again, stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
Step 4. Grate the 35g of dark chocolate over the mixture and stir in until it’s melted.
Step 5. Heat the entire batch until it’s just about to boil and then serve it nice and hot!
This is a nice, mildly spicy, thick hot chocolate that’s good enough to eat with a spoon! If you’re a mega-sweet tooth, you can add some whipped cream to the hot chocolate for an even sweeter experience. Enjoy it! Love Megs xo
